The release of WordPress 6.7 marks an important milestone in modern block-theme engineering. In this deep dive, we explore how the Block Bindings API connects block attributes to custom post meta, the new Font Library APIs, and performance implications on shared hosting stacks.

The Block Bindings API Explained

Prior to WordPress 6.5, connecting custom meta fields to native Gutenberg blocks required custom PHP blocks or React sidebar plugins. With Block Bindings, core paragraph and heading blocks can bind directly to custom meta with zero custom block code.

HEIC Image Processing & Server Footprint

Native support for HEIC format uploads allows iOS photos to be processed directly on the server without client pre-conversion, backed by ImageMagick and GD optimizations.
